Forever & A Day

Looks and feels like it's been forever since I've made an entry (not that anyone actually reads this). My life is a whirlwind right now and I'm trying to catch my breath. I'm quitting my job and moving 3 hours away into a new home with my BF and baby girl. I hope that things work out well.

I've been really down in the dumps lately. I can't lose all of the baby weight and my hair is in this weird, gross growing out phase. I just can't seem to get out of this funk. Of course, the sleep deprivation isn't helping. But, it's all for the love of Kiersten and I wouldn't change that for anything. My baby is getting so big and changing so much everyday. I never could have imagined loving someone or something as much as I love her. She's my everything! She's 17.5 weeks old now and developing her own little personality. We tried baby food for the first time last night. It was so cute. I cannot wait until she can say "mama." Of course, I say that now! Lol.

Kiersten Aileen is HERE!!!!

After a pretty uneventful pregnancy, my blood pressure shot up out of no where. For about 4 days I was in and out of the hospital and my doctor's office. On Saturday 11/8/08 they decided to admit me and induce labor. Kiersten Aileen Upshaw arrived Sunday 11/9/08 weighing in at 5lbs 11 oz and 18 inches long. She was 4 weeks early but VERY healthy. She's the light of my life. She's 3 weeks old now and is up to 7lbs 1 oz and 20 inches. She's growing by the hour! I love this little gift that I've been given more than life itself!!!!

Counting down the days...1st Baby Shower

I drove down to Miami this past weekend to visit my mom and have my very 1st baby shower! It was nice to visit with mom and, of course, receive all of the cutesty baby gifts. I really got a lot of stuff that I needed and/or wanted. This child will have enough clothes to wear for, at least, the first year of her life! Lol. We also got a bouncer, a swing and a diaper genie amongst other things. I was really happy. We finally decided (or so I think) on a name. As of right now, her name will be Kiersten Aileen. Aileen was my grandmother's name and I wanted to carry on her name and spirit, especially since she is no longer with us.

So, as of now, I'm just counting down the days until baby Kiersten is here with us. I feel blessed everyday to be carrying her inside of me. I've waited for so long to become a mother and my dreams are finally coming true!!!

Survived the Storm & New Hair Cut!

I didn't think Tropical Storm Fay would ever leave! Luckily all we had here in Orlando was a ton of rain. No flooding though. It just rained and rained and rained. I thought I was going to have to build an ARK! Lol. I finally broke down on Saturday and chopped all of my hair off. It was high time for this. My hair just kept getting bigger and frizzier as the days went by. I needed something new and fresh and most of all EASY! This cut only takes 5-10 minutes in the morning, which means I can sleep in a few, itsy, bitsy minutes longer! Yay!

Here We Go Again!

For those of you that do not get to experience a Tropical Storm or Hurricane, let me just say that you are definitely not missing anything! Although I live more inland than what I did for the 2004-2005 season, I'm definitely not taking it lightly. Do you even understand what it's like to live in the Florida Heat w/no electric for 6 days!?!? To put it lightly, it's sickening. I PRAY that we don't lose electricity, especially right now, when I'm 6 months pregnant! I think I'd die! Right now, it's just dreary and overcast. I'm hoping that we won't experience any damage, just rain and some winds. They've already closed schools here in Orlando and in the surrounding counties. My mom lives in Miami and they sent her home from work at 1pm and told them to stay home tomorrow. I wish they tell us that HERE! This will be my BF first storm and he's already predicting the worst. Needless to say, we really don't have much in the ways of hurricane supplies. We most definitely need some water and batteries. We have enough candles to get us through though. Too bad we don't have a freakin' generator!

I feel so tired all of the time. It doesn't help that I have to get up once every hour every night to pee! Ahhh. Still 4 more months to go. We haven't come up with a name yet. I didn't realize that part would be so hard. I must have suggested at least 100 names, yet the BF doesn't like any of them. Hopefully she will have a name soon.

Ugh! I'm getting soooooooo fat! Yes, I do realize I am growing a human being inside of me, but still! There is going to be one MAJOR diet plan once the little one pops out! I'm getting so antsy for July 15th to hurry up and get here. That's when we go in for the ultrasound to see if it's a boy or girl. Secretly I'm hoping for a girl, but I will be ecstatic regardless. I just want to know so that I can start shopping for either PINK or BLUE!

I've actually been feeling the little peanut moving around inside for a few weeks now. It's one of the most amazing things I've ever felt. I'm looking forward to actually feeling some little feet kicking me from the inside.

I'm starting to feel better. Hopefully this is the light at the end of the 1st trimester tunnel! Lol. I got my haircut on Friday and I highlighted it myself today. This is going to be a lot easier than before. I've just been so tired in the mornings that I was just pulling my hair back in a ponytail everyday. Can't do that now, but this cut will take less time to style. I'm liking it so far.

Well, it's been quite awhile since I've posted anything. That's because I've been soooo sick. I haven't bought any makeup since who knows when and haven't really worn any since then as well. As you can see, the little widget on my page, I am going to have a LITTLE ONE! I'm soooo excited and scared. I'm 11 wks and 2 days today. I got to hear the little heart beat today and that has put me on top of the world!

5 Beauty Crimes (here comes the Po Po)

Yep we ALL do. We break the laws of beauty. Some of us on a daily basis, while others just do it every now and then. Why would we do this in good conscious, especially when it's in the name of BEAUTY? My excuse...I'm lazy! Guilty - as - charged. Here are my top five Beauty Crimes:

#1. I buy makeup, especially eye-shadow, and I don't use it! I rarely wear eyeshadow, yet I own enough to last for the next 5 years!

#2. I have that nasty habit of picking at my face. I know it will only make it worse, but I can't just leave it alone. I convince myself that I'm actually "helping" the situation.

#3. I don't moisturize my face like I should. I get lazy when I get out of the shower. Most of the time, I just take my shower and call it done. There are times when I can see the dry skin or my face feels tight, so then I moisturize.

#4. I, like Vanessa, don't drink water. People always say that water is taste-less, but I beg to differ. I can't stand it. The only time I can just drink plain, old water is if I am dying of thirst. I have started drinking carbonated, strawberry flavored water from Wal-Mart. It kind of tastes like soda w/o all of the bad stuff.

#5. On the weekends, I have a really bad habit of not washing my makeup off before hitting the sheets. I don't know why this tends to happen, especially on Fridays. Again, I blame it on my laziness.

So, there it is. I have plead guilty. What about you? Anything to confess?

I'm trying to figure out what happened to me not buying anything else right now? Oh yeah, I threw that idea out-the-window! Next month will be different. I'm putting myself on a budget and I'm going to follow it (*crosses fingers*). For now, I bought. As you can see, I spent some more mulah on lippies and blush ('cause, apparently, I don't have enough - or so I tell myself). My weekend finds are from good old Wal-Mart. Gotta love it!

I usually don't like Cover Girl much. Can't really say why, I just don't. And you really can't call this a "tru-minerals" when it has talc in it, but all in all, this blush is pretty. It has just a little shimmer and is a nice glowing pink.

When my BF asked if I would run to CVS to pick him up something, of course, I jumped at the chance! Cover Girl had Buy One Get One Free on some of their lippies! (*gets butterflies just thinking about it!*) So, I picked up "Baby's Got Lips" & "Warm & Rosy."

Also, when I posted my new makeup organization cabinet, (g)ezebel asked that I show what goodies I had in those candy colored drawers. So, I thought that I would display the Lipstick drawer for tonight. As you can see, the bulk of my lippies are from Milani. I just love their products (not to mention the price...cha-ching!).

Yesterday morning, while at work, I was asked if I would run out to the near-by grocery store to pick up some bottled water. Why the heck not? Shoot, I get to leave the office, take my time AND still get paid. Of course, I'll do it. So, when I entered the store, did I go straight to the water aisle? Are you freakin' kidding me? Lol. Nope. My butt head straight to Cosmetics! I could here it calling my name (Aayyy...Meeee...over heeeerre). Yes, cosmetics really talk to me (note to self: make an appointment w/a psychiatrist :] ) So, getting back to the goods, they must be getting rid of their Milani products because everything was SUPER marked down and the shelves were quite bare. I'm talking 99 cent stuff here people! The most I paid for anything was $2.99! So, I added up all of my savings and it came to $23! I saved THAT much! I mean, yes, I'm happy that I saved, but disappointed in myself that I spent. So, on with the STUFF. I don't have the products here in front of me, so I may not get all of the names right. New "Cabinet" Organizer

So, I went back to the store right after work and bought my little "cabinet" organizer! It was a snap to put together and works just perfect! I cleaned up the bathroom sink and organized my makeup. The nice part is, is that guests don't have to be exposed to my makeup mess! It's soooo cute! Then I had to run to CVS for some sinus medicine and picked up a Prestige Eyeliner in Sable. I don't even wear eyeliner! But, I'm gonna start practicing :]

Not too much going on with me lately. I have been able to resist the urge to buy, buy, buy. I think I'm just thinking about my dwindling bank account. Twice now, I've had the cosmetics in my hand (even walked up to the counter) and actually was able to put - it - down and not make a purchase. It took a lot of will power, but I did it.
I did some "window shopping" today @ lunch and saw a really cute storage cabinet that I decided I really wanted after I left the store. Ahhh. Why do I always do that? Of course, I've been thinking about all of it's practicalities for the last couple of hours. It was only $9.99. I might have to swing by there after work and pick it up. Needless to say it would be for my Cosmetics organization! I gotta buy SOMETHING!

Contaminated LipGloss???

So, I just got my haul from Ebay today. I purchased 10 of the NYX Sheer LipGloss in the tubes for $11.50. Not bad, huh? If it's too good to be true, then it probably is. I've never tried this particular gloss before, but I have tried other NYX products and they have been quality cosmetics. This is why I'm thinking that the gloss has been tampered with by the seller in some way. When I opened the envelope I initially noticed that there was gloss on everything. Since it was sent in a bubble envelope I figured that some of the glosses had probably been squeezed in the transition from Cali to Florida. Each tube has a little piece of tape on it to appear as if they've never been opened. However, it's really easy to peel the tape back and replace it. In any case, I opened one and applied it.
IT TASTES LIKE SOAP!!! So, I removed it immediately, but now I have a soapy taste in my mouth and my lips kinda sting. I don't know what to do, other than NOT APPLYING IT AGAIN! I checked the ebay add and she states "no returns" for obvious sanitary reasons, but I feel duped. I don't want to ruin my solid reputation on ebay (although I don't sell or buy a lot), but I don't think I got a new product.
I'm wondering if the gloss was used and then the brushes were removed and washed to make them appear new. In any case, they are gross and I've lost $20 (price of lipgloss + shipping). This sucks. No more makeup buying of any sorts on ebay. It's not worth it. I'm pissed.

When does the madness stop? I guess I should be thankful that I don't have a huge taste for really expensive cosmetics (although I'm starting to consider it). It seems that I cannot go an entire day without running out somewhere to purchase some type of makeup. This is truly addictive! The craziest part is that I don't wear a lot, but I sure enjoy collecting it. After a long day's work, I love coming home and just looking at my little stash. Then I rearrange it...yada, yada, yada. My Work-Day Look & Small Haul

So, this is me on any given work day. I don't really do a lot of makeup. Just foundation, blush, mascara and lipstick. I have such a hard time doing eye makeup. I don't know why. I use to wear eye shadow and liner all of the time when I was younger, but I've somehow lost the nack for it. I think a lot has to do with my laziness. I'm not a morning person at all. I pretty much have chronic insomnia, so by the time the alarm clock goes off I'm just falling asleep!

I did some minor shopping this weekend. Nothing too big or special, but it was enough to make me happy!

Max Factor Shell Shimmer l/s, Rimmel Sunny Side nail polish, 2 Healing Garden lotions and HIP Bronzer in Bliss. The Bliss is a little dark, but it's really pretty.

Two Revlon l/s (not sure if I like them yet) and a pretty pink Revlon blusher. I LOVE the blusher. It's so girly! Lol. Plus the little pink flowers on it make it even better.

I plan on returning the hair straightener/curling iron to Target after work today. I kept burning my hand on it. Besides, I really want to get a good one. If anyone has any good suggestions let me know. I was thinking about the Chi, but I'm not all that familiar with the straighteners.

Target Haul

So, the intent was to go to Target and pick up the hair straightener/curling iron only. Well, as you can see my impulse buying took over and I picked up a few more things. The greatest thing was that everything was on SALE. Who can resist a sale? Perfect excuse to buy things that you don't need...well, at least that's what I like to tell myself.

Olay Clarify & Cleanse, Garnier Fructis Shine Spray, Luxe Sangria Splash body wash, Neutrogena Moisture Shine Tinted Lip Balm in "Fresh," Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in "Pearl Rosedew," Wet n Wild 3 of a Kind lips, eyes, cheeks in 722A and Sonia Kashuk Eye Shadow Duo in "Golden Goddess." Everything was under $2 except the Revlon ($2.97) and the Garnier ($2.99)!!!

The Hair is FINALLY Fixed

Lesson learned: Leave the hair coloring to the professionals. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) I don't have any "before" pix on the two catastrophes that I caused to my hair. The first color came out a greyish-blue. Yuck. So what did I do to "correct" that? I bought a box of hair bleach. Yep. I'm a dummie. So, the end result of that was unbelievable, glow-in-the-dark, Big Bird yellow. Surprisingly, this isn't the first time I've done this. So, I finally made the call and went in to a professional and $145 later, I have a natural look. Granted this wasn't what I was headed for in the first place, but after the Big Bird disaster, I'll take it. My hair has been colored 4 times in the last 3 days. Time to give it a rest. So, here is the final-final result. No makeup. Just new hair. Whew *wipes brow*

I Need A Nap

I've purchased a few things over the last few days. I just need to get some batteries for my camera so I can post them. Actually, right now I'm dealing with a hair-dying disaster. I attempted to put a "dark blonde" on my hair last night to give it a base and then I was going to highlight it tonight. However, the "dark blonde" has made my hair look a greyish-blue color. No one at my work said anything. I think they are the "don't say anything if you can't say anything nice" type of people. So, I went to CVS at lunch today and bought another color. I foresee more disaster in my near hair future. I don't know why I just don't let a professional handle these things. I just hate paying a lot of money for hair color that tends to fade anyway!

Ok, enough about my hair. *sighs* I found this while browsing the 'net and I want it!

Thank Goodness for Weekends

Sleeping in was oh-so nice this morning. Unfortunately, the A/C has broken down and the landlord won't have a repair man out until Monday. I don't know if I even have to explain how miserable one can get in a house w/no A/C in central Florida. Enough said.

I managed to pick up a few things @ CVS yesterday. Please excuse the fuzzy pic as all I had was my camera-phone. The lipgloss by Essence of Beauty is very tasty. I usually don't care for scented or flavored lipgloss, but this one is awesome. It is suppose to taste like Whipped Cream, but it tastes more like caramel to me.

Ok, so I couldn't resist the brick clad CVS store standing on the corner. So, I stopped to look for some eyeshadows and....I found them! They are the Milani Wet/Dry in Lily White & Girls Luv Pink. They are so pretty and sparkly!

I also got a few things in the mail that I ordered off line. I bought NYX lipgloss in French Kiss & the M.A.C. Fafi Eriko doll. Yes, she is the least sought after, but I couldn't resist her for $5 on ebay!

So, I spent the day gazing at my new purchases and looking at some beauty mags. I can't wait until this week is over and work can go back to normal. I'm tired of being bored to tears for 5 hours a day!

Sooooo...I bought a Glamour magazine last night in an attempt to occupy my down time today at the job site. Let's hope it works! I do plan on stopping by a different CVS on my way out there. I want to get some of the Milani wet/dry eyeshadows, as they were completely out of them at the one yesterday. Maybe one day I will learn how to actually put the eyeshadow on my eyes!

Ok, so I went to CVS instead of Walgreens. It was on my way to the job site. In any case, I finally found the Essence of Beauty Makeup Primer that I read about on nessasarymakeup.com. Vanessa is such a cutie! I also picked up Milani Minerals blush in Sweet Rose, Dream Matte Mousse eyeshadow in Vanilla Veil and Sally Hansen's Natural Butter lippie in Shimmer. Makeup is better than chocolate!

The other day I picked up Sally Hansen's Diamond Strength nail polish in Pretty in Pink. I love it!

Alas, it cannot be. I have to do traffic counts all this week for my job. Of course, this has absolutely nothing to do with my Administrative duties, but they are short-handed and guess who is the lucky one? Oh...Yeah (in my best possible Mr. Kool-Aid impression). So, on my way out to the site, I plan on swinging by Walgreens to see if I can find anything new, pretty and interesting to add to my ever-so-growing Makeup collection. My boyfriend thinks I'm obsessed...to tell ya the truth, I think he's right! *evil grin*

Ahhh...the day of LOVE! Kind of a cheezy holiday, but cute all the same. I think it's more fun when you are little, in school, and giving out little cards to all of your friends. Of course, ALL holidays seem that way to me now-a-days. They just aren't the same. In any case, I came into work today and found a few goodies left for me by my supervisor (she's such a sweetie). Ebay sucks. Enough said. Just a girl tryin' to make a few extra dollars right now when things are a little tight. I think I just might be done w/them. I'm just sooooo ticked right now.

I'm really thinking that's the last thing we need right now (actually I don't know of a time where it would be warranted). I don't remember all of these tornado warnings and watches in SW FL. I mean, sure, we all get our bouts of the good ol' hurricanes, but tornadoes? Central FL is weird. I wish we had a weather radio. I don't want to go to sleep. Of course, the local news is probably blowing things WAY out of proportion, but you never know. Wait...whoa...it's all over FL now, including my old home town. Man, I hope we are all going to be ok. My mom is in Miami, alone, and I worry about her.

Ok, I'm starting to get sleepy.

So, I guess it's time to grab my teddy and settle in. Maybe I'll just keep the t.v. on and hope that I'll wake up if there is a news alert. Good night, nurse!

Ok, so I'm not the typical "blog" kind-a-girl. But, then again, what is "typical?" I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to be doing on here. Just sharing, I guess. So, with that being said...here we go.

Can you believe it's almost Valentine's Day already? Seems like Christmas was just last week. Time is starting to fly by now that I'm getting older *ahem* wiser, I mean. In any case, I need to figure out what I'm going to get for my boyfriend (a.k.a. The Love Of My Life). Seems like Valentine's Day is more of a girly holiday. Whatever. I should get him something. But, what do you get a man that has just about everything he wants? After all, I can't really afford a 1960's muscle car. I'm sure I'll figure something out. *crosses fingers*

So, what now? Well, let's see. A little bit about me. I moved to Orlando a year ago from SW Florida. Not a huge change, but better since The Love Of My Life is here! We've been together for about a year and a half now. See. Time IS flying. I've found myself obsessed with makeup and beauty blogs lately. It seems like when I start to get interested in something, I tend to go a little overboard. Let's just thank the Lord above that it's makeup and not crack! LOL. Oh yeah, and I'm in luv with these little Fafi dolls from MAC!

Ok, well I would say that's enough for my first entry. I really need to figure out what my purpose is here. I'll think of it.
